What to do in Danang

Danang is the commercial and educational center of Central Vietnam and is the largest city in the region. It has a well-sheltered, easily accessible port, and its location on National Route 1 and the North–South Railway makes it a transport hub. It is within 100 km (62 mi) of several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Imperial City of Huế, the Old Town of Hội An, and the Mỹ Sơn ruins. The city borders Thừa Thiên-Huế Province across the Hải Vân Pass to the north, along with the Quảng Nam Province to the south and west.

One of the most attractive beaches on the planetThe best thing about Da Nang is its long and wide beach frontage stretching for kilometers from the Sơn Trà Peninsula to Hội An. All along are white-sand beaches that are quiet for large parts of the day. At the southern end, the main beaches are Non Nuoc, Pham Van Dong, My Khe, and My Anh. Of these, My Khe is the most popular. In 2005, the prestigious American business magazine – Forbes named My Khe beach as “one of the most attractive beaches on the planet” title.

The best thing about Da Nang is its long and wide beach frontage stretching for kilometers from the Sơn Trà Peninsula to Hội An. All along are white-sand beaches that are quiet for large parts of the day. At the southern end, the main beaches are Non Nuoc, Pham Van Dong, My Khe, and My Anh. Of these, My Khe is the most popular. In 2005, the prestigious American business magazine – Forbes named My Khe beach as “one of the most attractive beaches on the planet” title.

Son Tra Peninsula is a primordial woodland with breathtaking vistas and diverse ecosystems. There are about 1,000 plant species and 120 animal species that can be found in this old forest, which covers an area of 4,500 hectares. 21 of which are in Vietnamese and international Red Books. Hence, the majority of people that visit the mountain desire to observe the wildlife and plants here.

The Confucius statue at Ban Co Peak“Ban Co Peak” means “chessboard mountain”. According to legends, two fairies descended from heaven and came to this place to play Chinese chess together. A banyan tree stands at the end of the south-east coastal road, which is located 17 kilometers away from the city center. According to locals, this ancient tree is at least 1,000 years old. From here, you can see Da Nang, Cham Islands, and the whole Son Tra Mountain. It was recognized as a heritage tree by Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature in 2014.

Marble MountainMarble Mountains is a group of five limestone peaks situated seven kilometres from downtown Da Nang. The five karsts (called Ngu Hanh Son in Vietnamese) are named after the five elements: Kim (metal), Thuỷ (water), Mộc (wood), Hoả (fire) and Thổ (earth). Over centuries, Marble Mountains has held special significance for the people of Central Vietnam. The ancient Cham revered the karsts as a spiritual site, and Vietnamese emperors from Hue and legendary generals passing through paid visits to the peaks, adding to their store of legends. Today Marble Mountains is home to a network of caves, tunnels, towers, and pagodas built by Mahayana Buddhists and the Nguyen Dynasty Kings. The structures and shrines blend harmoniously with nature: Vine tendrils drip from above, frangipani and poinciana trees drop their blossoms on the stone paths, and the pagodas’ ornate roofs sparkle in the tropical sun. It’s a setting that easily captures the imagination.

The Golden Bridge was designed to connect Thien Thai garden to the French village and the Le Jardin D’Amour flower garden.
